MINSK OBLAST, 7 January (BelTA) – During his visit to a church on Christmas Day, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said he was pleased with the current snowy weather, BelTA has learned.
“Well done, people have managed [the recent snowfalls]. Especially in Gomel Oblast, closer to Russia [prior to visiting the church Aleksandr Lukashenko had heard a detailed report from the Gomel Oblast governor]. The snow is knee-deep there,” the head of state said.
“Well, this is what we wanted, and I also asked the God for a bit of frost and some snow to fall. Look, that’s exactly what happened. Even with a surplus. So, I am glad we finally have a true snowy winter. Of course, it’s not the kind we had in our childhood when we couldn’t be seen because of the snowdrifts, especially in the village. But it is a real winter nonetheless. And may your lives be just as real and true,” the president told the parishioners.
