Lukashenko meets with Egypt's parliament speaker

CAIRO, 19 February (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Ali Abdel Aal Sayyed Ahmed, Speaker of the House of Representatives, the parliament of Egypt, in Cairo on 19 February, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian head of state came to the Egyptian parliament after his talks with Egyptian leader Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

At the central entrance to the parliament building, Aleksandr Lukashenko was greeted by the speaker and his two deputies, as well as the secretary general.

After the welcoming ceremony, the parties headed for talks.

A reminder, the talks between Aleksandr Lukashenko and his Egyptian counterpart focused mostly on trade and economic cooperation. “I am sure that the development of industrial cooperation goes fully in step with the interests of the two countries and helps get access to markets of Egypt's neighboring African countries, which is very important to us. I hope we will be able to satisfy the needs of the whole 100-million Egyptian market. From Cairo we work together practically for the whole of Africa. We are also looking into options to tap into more markets of the continent together,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
