MINSK, 25 December (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has left on a working visit to the Russian Federation to participate in the summits of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Eurasian Economic Union, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The traditional informal meeting of the CIS heads of state will be held in St. Petersburg on 25 December. The leaders of the CIS countries will summarize the results of the year and discuss the prospects for integration cooperation.
On 26 December, Aleksandr Lukashenko will also take part in a session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. The meeting of the heads of state will be held in the narrow and enlarged formats. The agenda of the meeting includes about two dozen issues. Leaders of the EAEU countries will discuss strategic areas of the union, including the formation of common energy markets and further harmonization of legislation, prospects for cooperation with third countries and a number of working issues.
During the meeting, the president is expected to announce the goals and priorities of the Belarusian chairmanship in the EAEU in 2025.
