MOSCOW, 26 February (BelTA) – A vector to a new stage of development of integration in all directions was determined during the session of the Supreme State Council. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement after a session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 26 February, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed: “We’ve determined a vector for a new stage of development of integration in all directions.” In particular, an instruction has been given to prepare the key guidelines on implementing the Union State Treaty provisions for another cycle: for 2027-2029.
The president asked members of the Supreme State Council, of the governments and the parliaments of Belarus and Russia, and the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia to establish serious oversight over the fulfillment of the adopted instructions with maximum personal involvement.
Apart from that, the president expressed gratitude to everyone for serious comprehensive preparations for the current session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
The Belarusian head of state also thanked representatives of mass media for their great efforts to popularize the integration agenda and the decisions being made at the top level in the interests of residents of Belarus and Russia.
After the session State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Sergey Glazyev told reporters that a report on fulfilling the key guidelines on implementing provisions of the Union State Treaty in 2024-2026 had been a very important item on the agenda of the session.
“Practically half of all the tasks of this document have been fulfilled. There is no doubt that the rest will be fulfilled by the end of the year,” the state secretary said. “It is very important that an instruction has been given to work out the key guidelines for the next three years, for 2027-2029. We expect that the level of integration, of coordination of our policies in all spheres as well as cooperation not only in economy but in science and technology, in social and cultural policies would get a new impulse. As Aleksandr Grigoryevich [Lukashenko] said, a new stage in the advancement of our integration is about to begin.”
Sergey Glazyev said that within the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia the parties intend to continue stepping up cooperation in security. Four programs are being implemented: in defense, security, information sharing, and information protection. He remarked that without a doubt militarization near the western borders causes concerns. “This unjustified aggressiveness, escalation of tensions require more efforts to enhance the defensive capability. Our heads of state talked about it,” the state secretary said.
The implementation of a number of other programs will continue as well. Apart from that, the realization of a new program that focuses on biological membranes has begun. It envisages the creation of a test bench to check possibilities of how medications can enter the human body, how they can infiltrate through the cell membrane. It is a serious R&D task that has no solution yet. “Let’s hope that our scientists will be able to accomplish this task within three years and that our pharmaceutical industry will get a model bench to check the efficiency of medications’ ability to affect the human body at the cellular level,” the state secretary of the Union State said.
