Lukashenko delivers tough message after army inspection

MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, following the comprehensive inspection of the Armed Forces, issued a stern warning to the military personnel regarding their personal responsibility, BelTA has learned.
Before hearing a report from State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich, the president addressed all participants of the event: “I want to warn you: not one of you will remain in your position. Not one. From the minister down to those present here, unless you prove your competence. Let us consider, Pavel [Muraveiko, Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Defense Minister] that this is our first acquaintance in battle. Then we will start to scrutinize each one of your units. War. Please hear me: war has begun. It is in this situation that you must act. Not in terms of 'peacetime' or 'wartime'."

“I want you to know how to fight. All over the world they praise the capability of our Belarusian army. So I want us to live up to that. Most importantly, I want you not to lay down your heads on the first day of war. That is why everything matters. As for how to act, you have been taught that," the head of state added.
