Lukashenko calls to take care of children, elderly people on New Year's Eve

MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) - It is important to take care of elderly people and children, especially in the run-up to New Year holidays, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he heard out a report on the final version of the draft Tax Code and the 2019 budget law of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA informs.

“We must take care of all pensioners and children as we did before. Situations like the one in Soligorsk are inadmissible. I don't know if it is true or not, but I heard that local pensioners had to stand in a queue for some presents. What's that?! It is not normal! Everything should be organized properly,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that there will be New Year parties, meetings, visits to orphanages, rest homes for disabled people, all those who need help. “We must come to people. We must remember that we will also become pensioners and old men. We will not become younger. Therefore, we must take care of our people, encourage our businessmen to do the same (they have always supported such initiatives for people),” the president said.

The head of state deems it necessary to help people in need. “Other people should make preparations and celebrate New Year. There will be enough days off for people to spend more time with their children. This is the main thing,” the Belarusian leader said.

“We must take care of our country, protect and value it, do our best to prevent the increase in the crime rate. New Year should be a peaceful holiday for people,” Alexander Lukashenko concluded.
