Lukashenko calls on Poland to buy tractors, not tanks

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – Poland needs to buy tractors, not tanks, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told the media in Minsk on 26 January, BelTA has learned.

“I want us to have good relations. Believe me, there will never be another president in Belarus who would be so eager for good relations with Poles. Why are so arrogant? Why do you treat us like this? Do not listen to anyone who says that we are against you. Or that Russia wants to attack you. We have enough land of our own. We have no need to attack you or wage war against you. Get this out of your head,” the Belarusian leader said.

“Stop buying tanks. You’d better buy tractors. You already have farmers throwing manure at your offices. Tomorrow they will have nothing to plow and cultivate the land with,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “Let us plow the land, let us trade, let us cooperate. Let us live in friendship!”

According to the president, they are setting up combat detachments, including Belarusians and send them to die in Ukraine. “You form them, maintain them in order to throw them across our border at the right moment. How should I treat you [Poland] in this connection? You are preparing to organize an intervention against us. Now I have to strengthen the border, create strongholds and fortifications there. We have to create these strongholds against our Slavs, against our Poles to protect ourselves from our kin people,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
