MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) - Belarus will overcome all difficulties, but everyone will have to work twice as hard this year, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the ceremony to present the Spiritual Revival Award, special prizes to art luminaries, and Belarusian Sports Olympus awards for 2024 on 8 January, BelTA has learned.
The head of state repeated the thesis that the coming year would be difficult. “I say it frankly. Remember, no matter who promises you golden mountains here, we will have to work twice as hard as in the previous year. But we will get through this. Not only because I want to trivially say that “We are united, we are inspired...” This is because we have learned how to work under difficult conditions when we are under pressure from all sides,” he said.
“It would seem at one point that we would not get through. Do you remember my words when I said to forget about sanctions? That saved us. If we, the Belarusians - emotional people - had plunged into the thoughts about the sanctions policy, we would have collapsed the economy, and then our lives and our state,” the Belarusian leader said.
“It does not matter what sanctions we have. In any situation we will have to survive, to withstand this pressure. We will surely withstand it!” the president stressed.
