MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to fly the refugees trapped at the border by a direct flight to Munich, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting with the working group to finalize the draft Constitution, BelTA has learned.
When speaking about the refugees, Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned the recent statement of the Munich authorities about their readiness to accept the refugees from the Belarusian-Polish border. Munich said: ‘We can no longer watch the people suffer on the EU border, without prospects, in uncertainty." The Bavarian authorities stressed that saving lives is their priority, and that Munich is ready to accept migrants under regional and state programs.
“Well done Munich! The problem is not worth it. They [the European Union] can accept 2,000 or 3,000 unfortunate people. If the Poles are not providing a humanitarian corridor, if they are preventing this, then Belavia can take them to Munich. What's the problem? What kind of offer is this: ‘You provide a humanitarian corridor via Poland, and we will take them in.' We can fly them out directly to Munich if necessary," the head of state said.
