ALGIERS, 2 December (BelTA) - Belarus and Algeria can significantly increase mutual trade, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Speaker of the People’s National Assembly of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Ibrahim Boughali on 2 December, BelTA has learned.

“In recent years, the momentum in our relations has been significantly strengthened, and we must continue in this direction. However, the trade we have today does not at all reflect the potential of our countries. We held a Belarusian-Algerian business forum here, establishing direct ties between companies. I believe we will be able to significantly increase trade. We are reliable partners and will strictly adhere to our agreements. There will be no delays on our side,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The head of state noted that Belarus is a country with a developed mechanical engineering sector and agriculture. “We have succeeded in developing many areas. We are ready to share this with you,” the Belarusian leader said.
In 2024, bilateral trade stood at just over $49 million, almost entirely made up of Belarusian exports.
