First Belarus-made brandy gifted to Lukashenko

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – Chairman of the Belarusian food industry concern Belgospishcheprom Anatoly Buben has presented the first Belarus-made brandy to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, the Pool Pervogo Telegram channel informs. Judging by the video, this brandy was made by A. Skirmuntt Pinsk Winery, BelTA has learned.

Anatoly Buben told the Belarus 1 TV channel that this brandy is already available in the company stores. Its prime cost is Br11, and it is sold at the price of Br14-15. “This brandy was locally made from start to finish. The grape vines are from the 2017 vintage,” he said.

Anatoly Buben is sure that the Belarusian brandy will find its consumer. “Moreover, there is not that much of it. We need to raise the price, place it into the premium segment and sell it. It will make a good souvenir for tourists who want to take home some gift from Belarus. I think that we will increase its price so that it can share the shelves with top-shelf liquors like Hennessy, Courvoisier and other types of expensive brandy,” he said.

The website of the winery says that this brandy is made from distilled spirits that have been aged for a minimum of three years. “Thanks to the origin of grapes - the very south of Belarus, Pinsk District - the beverage has a unique color, taste and aroma. The scents of fruit and vanilla are clearly felt. There is a slight bitterness, which gives it a certain savor and class. The blend is harmonious and light. The aftertaste is long-lasting,” the brandy producer assures.

The entire production cycle, from vine production to bottling, takes place on the territory of the winery. The drink is made from Alpha grapes.

Plans to launch the production of domestic brandy were announced back in 2019 when the concept of the future liquor was presented. A special bottle design was developed for the beverage. The product was named A. Skirmuntt after the Belarusian inventor-industrialist of the 19th century.
