Belarusian president invited to visit Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve to overview key initiatives

MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) – I invited Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to visit the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Yuri Nazarov told the media following his report to the president, BelTA has learned.

"Domzheritsy village is the center of the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve. I invited the president to show him a comprehensive solution for the development of such territories. Domzheritsy is the center of the reserve, a small village located far from large populated areas,” Yuri Nazarov noted. “Why did I invite the president? We want him to show the completely upgraded production base. We created a wood processing workshop. After all, the reserve is engaged in forest maintenance and needs to turn logs into something. We practically rebuilt and restored the workshop from scratch. There, we not only produce boards that can be exported. We have also started producing garden furniture, which is needed by the reserve itself to develop its tourist infrastructure.”

Yuri Nazarov reported that the infrastructure of the settlement has also been upgraded. This work was carried out jointly with local authorities. “There is some municipal housing there. There is also our property, republican property. The village has acquired a unified architectural appearance, which is very important. The tourist infrastructure has been revitalized featuring a hotel with a restaurant and a spa complex. It is available to local residents too,” Yuri Nazarov said.

Furthermore, the House of Environmental Education has been restored. Yuri Nazarov particularly emphasized the importance of this facility, which is visited even by very young children. They learn more about nature, how to care for it, and what ecology is.
Housing construction is also underway in the village. A 24-unit rental apartment building has been commissioned. “We invite people to come work there. We provide housing. We already know by name who lives in which apartment. And it's mostly young people. We have large families too. They grew up there, received an education, returned back home, got jobs, and have had three or more children. There is a kindergarten and a school. Such infrastructure with the manufacturing base allows us to confidently develop this settlement," Yuri Nazarov said.

He also reported to the head of state on the development of the tourism facilities affiliated with the President Property Management Directorate. "I informed the president about our approaches to developing the Naroch region. We have the Sosny and Priozerny sanatoriums there,” Yuri Nazarov noted. The meeting also touched on the development of the Borovoye sanatorium in Dokshitsy District, Vitebsk Oblast. Construction work is currently actively underway on its grounds, with plans to increase accommodation capacity by 1,5 times. “This necessitates upgrading the entire infrastructure. Next year, we will spruce this sanatorium up and it will be able to become self-sufficient. Because with the current number of bed space, it cannot generate enough revenue to develop further,” Yuri Nazarov said.
