Belarus presidential inauguration to be broadcast live

MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will be broadcast live, BelTA learned from the Belarus 1 TV channel.

“The red carpet, the ceremonial, the guests... We will show it all live. So, everything must be carefully prepared. Everything must be perfect,” the channel said about the preparations in the Palace of Independence.

“The ceremony is a classical event, a tradition. The President takes the oath on the Constitution, addresses the Belarusian people. But this seemingly measured tradition is very emotional: Belarus has chosen a leader, the leader takes responsibility. This is a serious step for everyone. We will see and feel it on 25 March,” Belarus 1 said.

As BelTA reported with the reference to the Belarusian Central Election Commission, the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will be held on 25 March.
According to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, the Oath of Office of the President shall be taken in a solemn ceremony attended by members of the Presidium of the Belarusian People's Congress, deputies of the House of Representatives and members of the Council of the Republic, as well as judges of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court. The ceremony shall be held within two months after the presidential election.
