Belarus president wants discipline, dictatorship of technology in Vitebsk Oblast

MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) – The Vitebsk Oblast administration should enforce strict dictatorship of technology and discipline in the region. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions during the government conference held on 28 January to discuss top-priority measures to ensure steady operation of Vitebsk Oblast agribusiness, BelTA has learned.

The president warned that Vitebsk Oblast enterprises should not count only on state financial support. Even if such support was available, many problems would be left unresolved if order and discipline were not enforced.

“Put what you have in order: the infrastructure, engine yards, complexes, grain elevators, farms. Make people show up for work on time and do their jobs,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

As an example Aleksandr Lukashenko referred to the loss of cattle situation. Regular workers are primarily responsible for the deaths of cattle. “It is a disaster that we've let some 92,000 head of cattle die all over the country!” the president said.

“Today we need most rigorous dictatorship of technology and discipline,” the president stressed. “This year we are going to commit heroic deeds together with the people we have and the infrastructure we have created in Vitebsk Oblast.”

The head of state said he was confident that the overall situation in the country will be good if every worker works diligently and cares for the effectiveness of his or her enterprise. “I want you to understand, I want the entire power vertical from the president to the heads of district administrations of Vitebsk Oblast to understand that there is no other way,” he remarked. “If you think we have money to waste on Vitebsk Oblast, think again. Today's situation is different. Food production was extremely low twenty years ago. Today we produce abundant amounts of milk and meat in Belarus as a whole. Nobody will worship you.”
