Belarus president sends Statehood Day greetings to Serbia

MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to Serbia President Aleksandar Vucic as the country celebrates Statehood Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“More than two centuries ago our ancestors freed themselves from the centuries-long oppression and guaranteed themselves the right to independence. Over the years of independence Serbia overcame severe ordeals and became a modern European state and a guarantor of security in the Balkan region,” the message of greetings reads.

The head of state remarked that Minsk and Belgrade are closely connected by the fate of their peoples. Belarusian and Serbian people have never been enemies, have never invaded someone else's lands and have been working hard for their happiness.

“I am convinced that the reliability of our friendly relations will remain untouchable in the changing political environment. We would like to continue joint efforts to implement our agreements which were reached during our meetings in the previous years. The preservation of a high level of Belarus-Serbia cooperation will contribute to the further enhancement of the two countries' potential,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
