MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko appointed new ambassadors to Hungary, Syria, India on 13 November, BelTA informs.
Alexander Ponomarev has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Hungary with a concurrent accreditation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Yuri Sluka will lead the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Syria. He will always have a concurrent accreditation in Jordan and Lebanon.
Andrei Rzheussky has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to India with a concurrent accreditation in Sri Lanka.
Alexander Lukashenko pointed out the importance of developing cooperation with these countries and stressed that there are big prospects for it.
In particular, the head of state mentioned mutual interest in the further cooperation with Hungary.
Speaking about Syria, the president said that the real situation in this country is exaggerated sometimes. “I am getting information not only from mass media. I think that you can work there, the conditions for am ambassador in Syria are not worse than in other countries.”
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized good relations with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the country in general. “We have maintained good relations with this country since Hafez al-Assad [a former president of Syria and farther of the current head of state]. Syria is big investments, the restoration of the country, and a very positive attitude,” the Belarusian leader said.
Speaking about India, Alexander Lukashenko said that an ambassador will have to work hard in this country. “We need to strengthen relations with this country. Yes, we maintain high-level political contacts, but the level of trade and economic cooperation could be much better.”
The president demanded to step up efforts to implement previous agreements. “We are speaking about the diversification of sales markets, and India is a very attractive destination,” he said.
However, Alexander Lukashenko said that one should not forget about conventional markets, for example, the Russian market, when trying to penetrate other markets: “They are neighbors, they know us.”
