MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) - The U.S. administration is aware of Belarus’ place and role in the region, Belarus’ UN Ambassador Valentin Rybakov told the media. The diplomat took part in the meeting of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko with U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
“This is not the first meeting that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has held with U.S. delegations. As for the substantive part, the parties discussed issues related to conflicts and wars, and also the Middle East. Of course, the parties also discussed our regional situation – Russia, Ukraine, Belarus,” Valentin Rybakov said. “The U.S. administration is aware of Belarus’ place and role in the region and is fully aware of the political weight and political experience of the president of Belarus. That is why decisions were made to raise the level of the delegation. The previous delegations were of a slightly lower level. The administration highly appreciates the experience that the president of Belarus shares with the USA regarding the conflict, and taking into account his personal involvement, his excellent knowledge of the heads of state involved in the matter.”

“The position that the president of Belarus emphasizes at each such meeting is that our regional conflict must be stopped as soon as possible,” the diplomat said.

Valentin Rybakov added that Belarus is making all possible necessary contribution to stop the conflict. “The USA highly appreciates the assistance provided by Belarus. Of course, such meetings touch upon bilateral relations, as well,” he said.
