BEIJING, 2 September (BelTA) – Meetings with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko produce results. President of Russia Vladimir Putin mentioned it as he met with the Belarusian leader in Beijing on 2 September, BelTA has learned.
The Russian leader said: “Wherever we meet, we will always find something to talk about.”
The Russian president noted that Belarus-Russia trade already exceeds $50 billion and Russia maintains comparable volumes of cooperation only with a handful of countries. He had even mentioned this fact during a meeting with a foreign counterpart in China.
“What do I mean by that? I mean that our meetings are not in vain,” Vladimir Putin stressed.
“I am very glad to meet with you. We’ve just worked within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. We will attend a parade tomorrow to commemorate the Victory that marked the end of World War Two. It is our common cause as well. Together with our Chinese friends in this case. And there is an opportunity to discuss our bilateral relations,” the Russian president added.
