Putin: Russian-Belarusian trade grows from year to year

MOSCOW, 26 February (BelTA) – Mutual trade and investments between Russia and Belarus grow from year to year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State in Moscow on 26 February, BelTA has learned.
“Favorable conditions for pursuing a unified macroeconomic policy have been created throughout the entire territory of the Union State. Large-scale projects are being jointly implemented in industry, transport, agriculture, and high-tech and knowledge-intensive sectors,” Vladimir Putin stated. “Import substitution programs are progressing successfully, including in such crucial areas as machinery and machine tool manufacturing, microelectronics, and optics. As a result, Belarusian-Russian mutual trade and investments are growing year by year.”

The Russian president noted that in 2025, trade between the countries increased by almost 3% and amounted to $52 billion. “Our statistics may differ slightly, but overall the figure is very substantial,” he added.

Vladimir Putin noted that Russia is the leader in terms of the accumulated investments in the Belarusian economy, over $4.5 billion. About 2,500 Russian companies are operating in Belarus.

“Our countries now even have their own common trademark: ‘Product of the Union State’. This mark is awarded to products for which at least half of the materials and components used in production come from Russia and Belarus. It grants the right to access government procurement programs and other additional preferences,” the Russian leader stated.
