MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) - Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Warsaw will reopen the border crossings with Belarus that were closed on 12 September, the Polish website Onet reports.
“We have made a decision together with the minister of internal affairs, who will issue the relevant order today to open the railway and road border crossings with Belarus,” Tusk stated.
Border crossings between Poland and Belarus will be reopened on midnight (local time) from Wednesday to Thursday, 25 September.
On the night of 12 September, Poland completely closed its border with Belarus “until further notice”. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov noted that by closing the border, Warsaw had planted a mine under its relations with other countries. The Polish authorities also acknowledged that the suspension of cross-border traffic poses a problem for transport operators.
