MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) - Kirill Dmitriev, Russian special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, is indeed expected to meet with members of the U.S. delegation in Davos, Switzerland, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a briefing, TASS reports.
“I can confirm that he does have plans to meet with some members of the U.S. delegation,” he noted commenting on media reports that Dmitriev would meet with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos to discuss Washington’s peace plan for Ukraine.
Commenting on the news about the establishment of a new international organization called the Board of Peace, Dmitry Peskov stated that the Kremlin does not yet know the details, including whether this Board will apply only to Gaza, but hopes to receive answers during interactions with the Americans. “We do not yet know all the details of this initiative regarding the Board, whether it applies only to Gaza or involves a broader context. There are still many questions here,” he said.
Furthermore, Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow has not received an invitation to the Group of Seven (G7) meeting in Paris. Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump posted a personal message from French leader Emmanuel Macron, who proposed organizing a G7 meeting in Paris and inviting the Russian side to participate in this event. Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported that sources close to Macron confirmed the authenticity of the message on behalf of the French president, posted by Trump, regarding the proposal to hold a G7 meeting in Paris and invite Russia to participate.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) is running in Davos, Switzerland, until 23 January. Themed as “A Spirit of Dialogue” it has brought together business leaders, political figures, and experts from various fields. -0-
