Minsk expected to host high-level events to mark EaP 10th anniversary in autumn

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – Official high-level events on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership will be held in Minsk in the autumn, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at an expert conference “Eastern Partnership at 10: Results and Ways Forward” on 4 June, BelTA has learned.

“This autumn, we together with colleagues from the European External Action Service are planning to hold official high-level events on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership in Minsk. In the future we hope to host the next summit of the Eastern Partnership,” Vladimir Makei said.

The minister believes that it is high time summits were held in the countries – neighbors of the EU. “Thus, people in this part of Europe should stop perceiving the Eastern Partnership as some otherworldly, confusing and disturbing concept. Minsk could become quite a comfortable venue at a crossroad of the integration projects and transport routes, the island of stability with the fresh experience of hosting major international forums,” Vladimir Makei noted.
