MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus has provided details regarding the timeline for the entry into force of the visa waiver agreement with Laos, BelTA has learned.
On 17 July, Belarus and Laos signed an intergovernmental agreement to abolish visas for holders of national passports during the visit of Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov to Laos.
The ministry emphasized that the signing of the agreement does not mean it takes effect immediately. “To introduce the visa-free regime, the parties need to complete a series of domestic procedures, including formal ratification of the document. These processes take time,” the ministry explained.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Belarusian citizens to take into account this information when planning trips to Laos and to closely monitor any official updates published on the ministry’s platforms. The exact date when the agreement will come into effect will be announced later.
