MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) - NATO member states are seeking to build up forces on the border of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during an embassy roundtable on Ukraine settlement, TASS reports.
“Europeans are hatching plans to build up their forces and capabilities right on the borders of the Union State of Russia and Belarus. Poland, just Poland alone, has announced an intention to ramp up the production of 155-mm ammunition thirtyfold,” he said.
Previously, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced plans to increase domestic 155-mm artillery shell production 30-fold. To achieve this, Poland will build three additional factories, with 3 billion zloty allocated for the purpose. In turn, the head of Poland's National Security Bureau Sławomir Cenckiewicz called for the reinstatement of universal military conscription, which was abolished in 2009.
