Kremlin: Russia grateful to Lukashenko for goodwill gesture of pardoning FRG citizen Krieger

MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) - Moscow is grateful to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko for goodwill gesture and pardoning FRG citizen Rico Krieger who was sentenced to death, the Kremlin said in a statement.

Russia is grateful to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko for the goodwill gesture and granting pardon to German citizen Rico Krieger who was sentenced to death, the message reads. 

It also noted that Moscow is also grateful to the leadership of all countries that assisted in the preparation of the exchange. 

Earlier, Anadolu Agency reported that Russia, the United States and Germany conducted an exchange of 26 prisoners at Ankara airport on 1 August. It is the largest prisoner swap in recent times. According to the agency, seven countries were involved. German citizen Rico Krieger, previously pardoned by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, is among the prisoners exchanged.
