
MOSCOW, 2 October (BelTA) - The CIS Foreign Ministers Council will meet in Dushanbe on 9 October, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a briefing for the press in Moscow on 2 October, BelTA has learned.
“The foreign ministers are expected to review the organization's preliminary results for the current year and outline key avenues of future cooperation. The ministers are also set to focus on ways to expand the CIS’s ties with other international associations and exchange the views on pressing regional and international issues,” Maria Zakharova stated.
According to her, the meeting is expected to endorse a number of draft joint statements and adopted the decisions aimed at strengthening foreign policy coordination, deepening cooperation in cultural, humanitarian, and law enforcement areas, and improving the CIS legal framework. The ministers will also approve a plan for multi-level ministerial consultations in the CIS for 2026.
“Most of the approved documents will be submitted for subsequent consideration by the CIS Heads of Government Council and the CIS Heads of State council,” Maria Zakharova added.
