FM: Belarus-Iran relations are built on sovereignty, peace, multipolarity

MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) - Relations between Belarus and Iran are based on respect for the principles of sovereignty, peace, and multipolarity, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov told the media following his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on 15 December, BelTA has learned.

“Our dialogue took place in a very warm, trusting atmosphere, exactly as it should be between good friends and reliable partners,” Maxim Ryzhenkov commented on the meeting. “We confirmed the high level of relations between Belarus and Iran, which are founded on respect for the principles of sovereignty, peace, and multipolarity.”

According to the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs, the meeting featured a detailed discussion on the implementation of the agreements reached by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during negotiations in Minsk this year.

“Concrete steps have been determined to expand ties in trade, economic, and investment sectors, as well as in other areas of mutual interest, including organizing expert meetings, visits, and joint events,” Maxim Ryzhenkov emphasized. “Our meeting is living proof that relations between Minsk and Tehran are developing dynamically and progressively, contributing to stability in the region and on the global stage.”

He also noted the high level of mutual understanding between Belarus and Iran. Maxim Ryzhenkov added that the spirit of collaboration is not only holding strong but is evolving in meaningful ways.

“We are satisfied with the results of the 18th meeting of the Belarusian-Iranian joint commission on trade and economic cooperation held in Tehran. We hope that in the near future we will be able to ‘raise’ the level of development of our bilateral economic relations to the high standards set by the leaders of our countries within the framework of the political dialogue,” the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs said.
