“BRICS is one of the most dynamically developing organizations of the global majority. Belarus has submitted its application, and we expect it to be processed in the near future,” the foreign minister said.
He specified that the next wave of BRICS expansion will involve granting partner status to a number of countries. “It remains to be seen how committed these countries are to the ideas of BRICS and whether they meet certain criteria,” the foreign minister added.
According to him, criteria to be applied to partner states are currently being developed within BRICS.
“The first wave of expansion will take place at the Kazan summit. At the moment, the Russian presidency is compiling a list of countries for the first wave of expansion. According to insider information, there will be about ten of them,” said Maksim Ryzhenkov.
A reminder, the BRICS Summit in Kazan is scheduled for the second half of October this year. “BRICS is another pillar that can help us maintain balance and economic stability,” the Belarusian president said. He also instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to draft a plan for Belarus' participation in this platform and its bilateral meetings.
