MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) - Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian have made a huge contribution to strengthening international relations, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik said at a meeting of the SCO Foreign Ministers Council in Astana, BelTA has learned.
"Dear colleagues, let me join the words of sympathy addressed to the Iranian people, the government of Iran and express sincere condolences on the tragic death of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi and our dear, good colleague and friend Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian. Iran lost its outstanding sons who made a huge contribution to the development of their country and the strengthening of international relations. I am sure that Iran's wise and consistent policy within the framework of the SCO will be continued," the minister said.
Sergei Aleinik also noted that Belarus highly appreciates Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the SCO, which was marked by a number of significant initiatives. Among them are the SCO initiative On World Unity for a Just Peace and Harmony, plans and programs for the coming years in the fields of security and economy, including the strategy of energy cooperation, prospects for setting up SCO financial structures and the Astana Declaration.
