MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) – A delegation from Belarus has arrived in Myanmar to observe the preparation and conduct of the final stage of the general election, BelTA learned from the Central Election Commission of Belarus.
It is specified that the delegation includes representatives of the Belarusian party Belaya Rus and the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus.
The citizens of Myanmar are to form a bicameral parliament, consisting of 224 deputies to the National Assembly and 440 deputies to the People’s Assembly. They will also elect representatives to the legislative bodies of the administrative regions and states.
The electoral campaign in Myanmar has its specificities. Due to the current security situation, voting in the country is divided into three phases. The first phase took place on 28 December 2025, with elections held in 102 localities. The second phase was held on 11 January 2026, covering another 100 localities. The third and final phase is scheduled for 25 January 2026 and will be conducted in the remaining 63 localities.
Belarusian observers will assess the compliance of the electoral process with international standards and the national legislation of Myanmar.
