MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – On 16 January, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus Dmitry Derevinsky held a meeting with Venezuela’s Foreign Affairs Minister Yván Gil Pinto, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Foreign Affairs Ministry.
During the meeting, the Belarusian diplomat reaffirmed the full support and solidarity of the Republic of Belarus with the people and government of Venezuela in safeguarding national interests and state sovereignty. He strongly condemned the unprecedented external aggression against the peaceful state and expressed deep condolences over the large number of casualties resulting from the night attack against Venezuela on 3 January 2026.
On behalf of Venezuela’s government, Yván Gil Pinto expressed sincere gratitude to President Aleksandr Lukashenko of Belarus for his firm stance in defending Venezuela’s sovereignty and for his principled consistency in advancing the friendly Belarus-Venezuela dialogue.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual readiness to further strengthen fruitful cooperation between the two countries in various areas.
