MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) – Belarusian parliamentarians pay special attention to the advancement of interparliamentary contacts with Algeria and consider them to be one of the foundations of the interstate relations, the press service of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament told BelTA.

Upon the invitation of the head of the Belarusian-Algerian parliamentary friendship group Hadjira Abbas the members of the House of Representatives Ruslan Kosygin and Nadezhda Khaltsova and a member of the Council of the Republic Valentina Baiko are staying in the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria on a return visit on 27-28 January.

On the first day of the visit the Belarusian parliamentarians met with Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of the National People’s Assembly of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

During the event Ruslan Kosygin, Deputy Chairman of the National Security Commission of the House of Representatives and head of the Belarusian parliament’s working group on cooperation with the parliament of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, noted the importance of developing and deepening comprehensive cooperation with Algeria.

“During his visit to Algeria President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Grigoryevich Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus is ready to develop a strategic partnership and give new impetus to Belarusian-Algerian cooperation in various fields. Moreover, a solid foundation is available for it: a common view on key matters of international order, mutual support, friendship, and the political will to transform them into mutually beneficial economic projects,” Ruslan Kosygin said.

The parliamentarian stressed that thanks to the political will and personal interest of the leaders of the two states Belarusian-Algerian relations are at their peak. “Belarusian parliamentarians pay special attention to the development of interparliamentary contacts with Algeria and consider them one of the foundations of interstate relations. The working groups on cooperation set up in the parliaments of Belarus and Algeria are in constant contact and do everything necessary to promote comprehensive contacts for the benefit of the nations of our countries,” Ruslan Kosygin noted.

The parties also emphasized that further development of the legal framework represents one of the priority matters for both sides and an important condition for the intensification of the bilateral relations.

In conclusion, the parliamentarian thanked the president of the National People’s Assembly of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria for the opportunity to pay a return visit to Algeria and for the warm welcome. Ruslan Kosygin also confirmed the invitation to come to Belarus on an official visit from Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko.
