Belarus, Myanmar discuss political dialogue, mutual trade

MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – Minsk hosted the second round of the political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lukashevich and the Myanmar side was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ko Ko Kyaw. 

The parties noted the active momentum and high level of contacts, which serve as an important impetus for intensifying and expanding Belarusian-Myanmar relations.

The negotiations covered the full spectrum of Belarusian-Myanmar relations, including the development of political dialogue, the enhancement of mutual trade, the expansion of the legal framework, bilateral cooperation within international organizations, and collaboration with the EAEU, ASEAN, the SCO, and BRICS. The parties also focused on promoting direct bilateral contacts in tourism, culture, and other humanitarian fields. An exchange of views took place on a number of topical issues from the regional and global agendas.

The parties acknowledged the broad opportunities for intensifying relations between Belarus and Myanmar and outlined plans for cooperation in the near future. 

The head of the Myanmar delegation was received by Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov. At the meeting, the Belarusian top diplomat reaffirmed Belarus’ commitment to developing comprehensive cooperation with Myanmar.
