MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) - Vladimir Borovikov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Vietnam with concurrent accreditation to Laos, paid a visit to Vientiane, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Belarusian ambassador held a meeting with Laos’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Maithong Thammavongsa. The parties discussed in detail the further development of political interaction, including the schedule of upcoming joint events. The consistent mutual support of the two countries on international platforms was emphasized.
The ambassador also met with Head of the External Relations Commission of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Bounleua Phandanouvong. The negotiations reviewed the state and prospects of political and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, and discussed ways to invigorate interaction between political parties and public organizations.
At the invitation of the country’s leadership, Vladimir Borovikov participated in the ceremonial events marking the 50th anniversary of the independence of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, in particular, the solemn parade on the central square of Vientiane. The parade involved several thousand people, including veterans of the revolutionary movement. Marching in formation were units of the armed forces and public security personnel, as well as representatives of state authorities, administration, and public organizations.
