Belarus calls for fair, long-term solution to Palestine-Israel conflict

MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) – Belarus' position in favor of resolving the Palestine-Israel conflict and the status of Jerusalem has not changed. Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas made the statement as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Palestine to Belarus Khaled Ariquat on 12 December, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

During the meeting the sides discussed the situation in the Middle East in view of the latest events and statements by international leaders. Andrei Dapkiunas reaffirmed that Belarus' view on the status of Jerusalem had not changed. It was stressed that Belarus is in favor of a fair and long-term solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict by means of politics and diplomacy on the basis of international law, including the relevant UN resolutions.

The sides also discussed how the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government agencies will interact with the embassy of Palestine to advance cooperation across the board, including in trade, healthcare, education, and tourism. The sides agreed to facilitate the mutual exchange of visits of representatives of business structures and look for other mechanisms to explore mutually beneficial contacts with a view to stepping up Belarus-Palestine relations.
