Belarus, Brazil’s Bahia eager to develop ties in agriculture, machinery manufacturing, logistics 

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Federative Republic of Brazil Andrei Andreev met with Carlos Melo, the Chief of Staff for the Civil House of the Government of Bahia, as part of a working trip to the state of Bahia on 6 February, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

The Brazilian delegation included the special representative of the Secretariat for Economic Development of the State of Bahia and the head of the Secretariat for Tourism Development. The parties discussed practical steps to develop mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation in agriculture, machinery manufacturing, and logistics, with a focus on the needs of the state's economy that present opportunities for Belarusian producers.

Special consideration was given to increasing the export of Belarusian fertilizers, possible project to set up joint ventures for the production of agricultural machinery for small and medium-sized farms, exploring the supply of quarry dump trucks for the needs of the mining industry, the procurement of Brazilian fruits, seafood, and coffee by Belarusian customers and utilizing the capabilities of Brazilian ports to increase the volume of bilateral trade.

The Brazilian side also expressed interest in establishing cooperation in healthcare, pharmacology, education, and tourism.
