Azerbaijani MFA: OSCE dissolves Minsk Group on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

BAKU, 1 September (BelTA – AZERTAC) – The OSCE Ministerial Council has made a decision to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group and its associated structures, BelTA learned from the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It was noted that, according to the decision, based on the joint letter of appeal of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia addressed to the OSCE chairperson-in-office, the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group, the personal representative of the OSCE chairperson-in-office on the conflict dealt with by the OSCE Minsk Conference, and the OSCE High-Level Planning Group are terminated as of 1 September 2025.

The OSCE Secretariat has been tasked with resolving administrative and technical issues related to the closure of aforementioned structures no later than 1 December 2025.

The resolution also declared null and void all decisions previously adopted within the OSCE regarding the former Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.

Thus, all OSCE state members have recognized that the aforementioned institutions, which were once established to settle the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, are redundant in the new circumstances following the resolution of the conflict, and the closure of these institutions has been formalized.

“The Republic of Azerbaijan will continue its principled and consistent position based on international law, towards strengthening peace and stability in the region,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry emphasized.
