MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) - The first state visit by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Mongolia in 2024 was an important turning point in the Belarusian-Mongolian ties, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Belarus Batsukh Bayarsaikhan said in an interview with BelTA.
“The past year was associated with a historic event, namely the visit of the Belarusian head of state to Ulaanbaatar on 1-4 June 2024, the first one in the history of bilateral relations,” the diplomat pointed out. “During the talks with Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the entire range of bilateral relations was discussed in both narrow and extended formats. Much attention was paid to promising projects in the fields of agriculture, industry and trade. Our leaders, as friends, discussed all mutually important topics and agreed to intensify Belarusian-Mongolian cooperation.”
The Ambassador highlighted the importance of the talks between the Belarusian leader and Chairman of the Great State Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia Gombojavyn Zandanshatar. He also emphasized that the Mongolian-Belarusian Business Forum provided a detailed review of the prospects for cooperation. The Belarusian delegation also familiarized itself with the history and traditions of Mongolia.
Undoubtedly, this visit served as an impetus for the interaction between Mongolia and Belarus,” Ambassador Batsukh Bayarsaikhan said. “I am confident that the leaders of our countries will be comparing notes on a regular basis.”
The Ambassador emphasized that, in general, ties and cooperation between Mongolia and Belarus are gaining momentum; the frequency of mutual visits, meetings and events at the highest and high levels is increasing. “In addition, on the occasion of national holidays, anniversaries and parliamentary elections in both countries, leaders, parliamentary speakers and foreign ministers regularly exchange congratulatory letters reaffirming the commitment to strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries,” the diplomat added.
