Ambassador: Belarus has treated Moldova in a kind and even fatherly way

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – Belarus has always treated Moldova in a kind and even fatherly way, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Moldova to Belarus Victor Sorocean said as he met with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 20 September, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat arrived in Minsk in 2017 and now his tenure is drawing to a close. He admitted that over this time he analyzed and rethought the relations of the two states. “For 30 years of independence Belarus has never acted in an unfriendly way towards Moldova. Its attitude was frank, kind, maybe even fatherly,” he said.

Victor Sorocean recalled the first visits of Moldovan President Igor Dodon to Belarus and his impressions of conversations with the Belarusian leader. “You were like a father to him. I thank you for this very important step that you took in 2018 when Dodon was here for the first time, and at his request and at your instructions, Belarus sent humanitarian aid to Moldova in the form of agricultural machinery and utility vehicles. This was a great boost to our relations” the diplomat emphasized.

In his opinion, the political relations between Belarus and Moldova are at a very good level, and Moldova needs to remain friends with such countries as Belarus.
