War mass execution site discovered in Polotsk District

War mass execution site discovered in Polotsk District
While investigating the criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people, the Vitebsk Oblast Prosecutor's Office has identified a previously unknown site where Nazi German occupiers exterminated civilians. In June 2025, search operations commenced in a woodland area 3km from Polotsk. Investigators have uncovered six pits, each approximately 15 meters long and 2.5 meters wide. This is believed to be the execution and burial site of the families of resistance fighters and Red Army soldiers and Jewish population from the Polotsk ghetto going back to the autumn 1941.
