MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) – Belarus is working on the possibility of exporting electric buses to the Spanish city of Barcelona. The possibility was discussed as Ambassador of Belarus to Spain Pavel Pustovoi met with top officials of the Barcelona city administration, BelTA has learned.

The Spanish side was interested in the proposal to supply Belarusian electric buses to the region taking into account the close attention paid to the environmental situation in major and industrial cities of Spain and the measures being taken to protect the environment.

The meeting in Barcelona City Hall was one of the several events taking place in the city these days for the sake of advancing political, trade, economic, and cultural cooperation between Belarus and Spain.

Pavel Pustovoi also met with Teresa Cunillera, the Spanish government's representative in the autonomous community Catalonia. Political cooperation was discussed as well as prospects of expanding regional interaction between Belarus and Spain. Advancing trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Spain was discussed as the ambassador met with top officials of the state business competitiveness agency.

Representatives of the Catalonian business community showed strong interest in a seminar on opportunities of economic cooperation with Belarus. Representatives of about 30 Spanish companies, which are interested in working on the Belarusian market, as well as those, which are already implementing economic projects in Belarus, attended the event. A separate meeting took place with representatives of the Belarusian private sector, who are exploring the Spanish market.

The exhibition Belarus-Spain: Friendship Born in Battles. 1936-1945, which is scheduled to open in the Catalonian History Museum on 15 May, represents testimony to Belarus-Spain cooperation in cultural affairs. The exhibition is based on photo documentary materials borrowed from the Belarusian State Museum of History of the Great Patriotic War. It is timed to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Belarus' liberation from the German invaders.
