MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) – Deputy Chairwoman of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim Svetlana Gurina revealed which Belarusian petrochemical products are of interest to Uzbekistan at the session “Light Industry: New Horizons of Cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan” held during the 3rd Belarus-Uzbekistan Women’s Business Forum, BelTA learned from the concern’s press service.
Svetlana Gurina remarked that the total trade between Belneftekhim organizations and their business partners from Uzbekistan exceeded $32 million in 2024, which was 42% more compared to 2023.
“Despite the distance [between Belarus and Uzbekistan], we have built a network of partners who purchase a wide range of non‑woven materials, cord fabrics, synthetic yarns, and fiberglass products. The Women's Business Forum, now in its third edition, also helps us to establish new contacts and strengthen existing ones,” Svetlana Gurina said. “Today we see Uzbekistan’s growing interest in our polyamide fibers and so‑called smart yarns. For example, acrylic fibers, including those produced in Belarus, are used in the production of yarn, fabrics, curtain products, upholstery materials, knitwear, and carpets. These fibers can be used both in their pure form and as blends with synthetic, artificial, and natural fibers.”
The deputy chairwoman stressed that Belarusian enterprises have offerings not only for Uzbekistan’s light industry, but also for its mechanical engineering sector, construction industry, and healthcare.
During the session, Uzbekistan’s representatives emphasized the importance of expanding supplies of chemical fibers and yarns to the country. “We are developing the production of blended fabrics and are looking for partners who could supply us with raw materials,” they noted.
