MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – The Swiss pharmaceutical company Octapharma is intent on setting up a new enterprise in Belarus to make medications out of human blood plasma. The idea was discussed as First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin met with Octapharma AG representatives on 11 October, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Turchin said: “I know the company has certain proposals. Today we are ready to discuss them, find an acceptable solution if possible, and give the final answer promptly.”
In turn, Tobias Marguerre, a member of the Board of Octapharma AG, noted that representatives of the company had been to the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone the day before. In his opinion, the park offers good conditions for doing business. “We are ready to build the necessary facilities at that site,” he stressed.
Octapharma AG makes and sells medications made out of human blood plasma. The company is headquartered in Lachen, Switzerland. It specializes in the research and development, production and sales of medications based on human blood proteins for various healthcare applications.
At present Octapharma AG consists of six enterprises in Austria, France, Germany, Sweden, and Mexico. The company owns 54 blood donation centers (45 centers in the USA and nine centers in Germany) as well as 37 daughter enterprises and representative offices. The company employs some 4,000 people and sells products in over 80 countries.
