Svetlogorsk bleached sulfate pulp plant to reach designed capacity in 2020

SVETLOGORSK, 31 October (BelTA) - The bleached sulfate pulp plant at OAO Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill is expected to reach the designed capacity in 2020. The matter was discussed as Belarus' Prime Minister Sergei Rumas visited the company on 31 October, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian head of government was briefed on the progress made in the implementation of the president's instructions to build a bleached sulfate pulp plant at OAO Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill with the total capacity of 400,000 tonnes per year.

The project is almost complete, said Yuri Nazarov, the head of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom. The mill is starting to operate on a sustained basis. “We have not registered peaks or falls in production,” he told journalists. He noted that the mill eliminated the drawbacks revealed by the supervisory bodies. “We are gearing up for the launch and hope to receive the permits by 1 December. The plant is projected to reach the estimated capacity next year,” Yuri Nazarov said.

When visiting the wood-preparatory and other workshops, the head of government was informed about their operation, technology and technological regimes.

The products of the plant are in demand. “Almost all the products are exported. The task of the new plant is to provide other pulp and paper enterprises of the group with raw materials. Pulp from here goes for processing,” said Yuri Nazarov. In his words, the plant's products will contribute to the implementation of the goal to shift to alternative eco-friendly packaging.
