Snopkov: Belarus-Chine strategic projects are designed for medium term

MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) - Strategic projects with China worth $3 billion are designed for the medium term, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov told BelTA following a meeting between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang at the Palace of Independence in Minsk on 22 August.

During the meeting the president said that 15 new strategic investment projects worth up to $3 billion are being actively worked out with Chinese partners. The most important ones include the third stage of the deep grain processing project of Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation, construction of plants to produce bleached pulp and chipboard, organization of modern automated casting, production of engines, polypropylene, urea, sodium chlorate, hydrogen peroxide, and soda ash.
Summing up the results of the meeting, Nikolai Snopkov emphasized the long-standing friendly relations between Belarus and China, cemented by the joint fight against fascism and Japanese militarism during the Second World War.
"Li Qiang very clearly described that our friendship is bound by blood, and it is indestructible," the first deputy prime minister stressed.During the meeting the president also discussed prospects for the development of political, economic and investment relations and also the cooperation between Belarus and China on the external circuit.

"As it has been repeatedly emphasized, Belarus and China hold similar positions on sensitive and important issues in all international organizations. We support each other. This is very important. Especially at a time of turbulence which we see in the world," Nikolai Snopkov said.

As it has been reported, on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Astana, Belarusian leader Aleksandr Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed that during the visit of the Chinese premier to Minsk, the emphasis would be placed on solving a number of issues in trade, economic, investment and humanitarian cooperation. They would be discussed in detail at the government level.
