Rumas, Medvedev discuss security matters

MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) - Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Rumas is meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev in Gorki, BelTA has learned.

“You have had talks with the government [of Russia] to discuss the topical issues and you have seen how our tax system works. Thus, now we can exchange considerations in the field of security. There are several pressing topics with regards to security, from the coronavirus epidemic to the situation in the oil market,” Dmitry Medvedev said.

He noted that these issues affect the stability of the global economy and the economies of all countries, both exporters and importers of oil.

Sergei Rumas, for his part, noted that Dmitry Medvedev's responsibilities in his new position include Russia's foreign policy. “I understand that the Republic of Belarus will remain one of the areas of focus for you," said Sergei Rumas. "There is no doubt that we are friends, we are brothers, neighbors," Dmitry Medvedev replied.

“We had the negotiations in the government today. Given that you are intimately familiar with our bilateral agenda, both our recent integration documents and the historical agreements over the past decades, I would like to discuss some issues with you,” the Belarusian head of government said.
