MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) - Some Belarusian citizens are in favor of redistributing economic powers between the center and regions, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told the media summing up the results of the dialogue platforms in the country, BelTA has learned.
"People see the need to redistribute economic powers between the center and the regions. First of all, this is about more independent management of budget revenues, decentralization of decision-making on the use of budget funds, industrialization of settlements, implementation of specific projects that are aimed at creating jobs in the regions," said Roman Golovchenko.
At the same time, the head of government stressed that it is not about taking money from Minsk Oblast and giving it to other regions that earn less. "The task of the regions is to develop business, territories, create jobs, get more taxes and income from real estate, rent and so on. This is the way to increase revenues to your budget, not through channeling money from more profitable regions,” the prime minister noted.
“Our goal is the industrialization of the country. This means both industries and services. We need to increase capital investment. For the first time ever we have made an attempt to develop a national infrastructure plan. It includes more than 800 facilities that will be upgraded or built anew within the next five years,” Roman Golovchenko said.
