Plans to expand civil aircraft fleet in Belarus in 2026

MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – Plans are in place to expand the aircraft fleet in Belarus in 2026. Director of the Aviation Department of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry Igor Golub mentioned it at a summarizing session of the department’s board, the Transport and Communications Ministry press service told BelTA.

The Belarusian flag carrier Belavia started operating a new type of aircraft in 2025: long-haul wide-body Airbus A330-243 aircraft, which enabled non-stop flights to Southeast Asia, expanded the geography of flights, and increased the volume of transport services. Further expansion of the fleet is one of the tasks for 2026.

Speaking about plans for the development of transportation by air, Igor Golub noted that the main efforts will be directed towards expanding the air transportation market, increasing its attractiveness to the population, developing the route network, and improving the economic efficiency of air transportation organizations.

Other areas of work include the development of regular flights and charter flights, the modernization of airfield infrastructure and air navigation infrastructure, and improving the quality of passenger services and cargo services.

Igor Cherginets and Vladimir Chereukhin, heads of the air carrier OAO Belavia and RUP Minsk National Airport, gave presentations during the meeting.

In his closing remarks Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Sergei Dubina focused on matters of paramount importance for civil aviation and called for the mobilization of all resources to accomplish the tasks at hand.

The meeting analyzed progress of implementation of the state programs Transport Complex and Energy Saving for 2021-2025.
