People, regional development named among priorities for new governor of Brest Oblast

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – Yuri Shuleiko, appointed new chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee by the president on 26 January, spoke about the priorities of his work as he talked to journalists, BelTA has learned.

“It is a well-performing agricultural region, with a strong processing sector, transport arteries, both railway and road. It has a large section of the state border with the West, with neighboring Ukraine. Brest Oblast residents are good hard-working people. The region needs to continue growing. The head of state has set a number of specific tasks to ensure that Brest Oblast remains an equally beautiful and well-developed part of our Belarus," Yuri Shuleiko said.

As for the priorities in the work, the governor defined them as follows: "First of all, people."

“Brest Oblast has a strong agricultural sector. The industry is also well-developed, but it is half of that of Grodno Oblast. But agriculture and major industrial enterprises (in Pinsk, Baranovichi and Brest itself) are very important for the further economic development of the country,” Yuri Shuleiko noted.
