Partnership for Economy: MAZ, Dana Holdings strengthen cooperation

Industry exhibitions are not only a place to show off success but also an important negotiating platform for business. During the 23rd edition of the BUDEXPO International Architectural and Construction Exhibition, which has just ended in Minsk, Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark) and the well-known developer Dana Holdings reaffirmed commitment to strategic partnership and outlined very interesting options for further cooperation.

It should be noted that the cooperation between Minsk Automobile Plant and Dana Holdings was not accidental. In Belarus these are the flagship companies that can set an example of success even in the most difficult conditions. The strategic partnership was started at BUDEXPO 2019 when the developer purchased 20 units of construction equipment from MAZ.

From the assembly line to the construction site! Two years ago, dump trucks designed to carry 20 cubic meters of bulk cargo and huge concrete mixers for 20 cubic meters arrived at a construction site of Europe's largest multifunctional complex Minsk World. More than 26 tonnes in one go! Of course, the vehicles with the bison image came in very handy as the company is rapidly erecting a new complex in the center of Minsk. Construction is on a strict schedule, many houses are delivered ahead of time.

At the BUDEXPO 2021 MAZ presented new models of construction machinery and equipment, for example, an 8x4 wheel dump truck and a new model of a truck crane with an oval boom profile - this new product dramatically improves the ability to lift large loads to great heights.

“These machines are compliant with all the technical regulations of the Republic of Belarus and the Customs Union. They boast improved technical specifications, and they are in great demand among construction companies,” Boris Mushchinsky, First Deputy Commercial Director of Minsk Automobile Plant, said.

Vibor Mulic, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dana Holdings, explained that the company chose Belarus-made construction equipment because of a good price/quality ratio.

“We are running large-scale construction projects. This year, for example, we will commission a record amount of residential and commercial real estate – 700,000 square meters. We will also continue the construction of the International Financial Center. Therefore, we need equipment that is powerful and reliable - the kind that MAZ produces,” he said.

Boris Mushchinsky stressed the importance of a strategic partnership with such a strong and promising company.

“We highly value the opportunity to cooperate with this real estate developer. We are ready to supply it with the latest models of construction machinery and equipment. Thanks to joint efforts, our companies are able to implement large-scale projects. Minskers can see the results with their own eyes in the streets of Minsk,” Boris Mushchinsky noted.

According to Vibor Mulic, two years of active everyday use of MAZ products demonstrated that MAZ produces excellent construction machinery! This has prompted Dana Holdings to seek new ways to advance cooperation with MAZ.

“We are grateful to the plant for providing us with great machinery and equipment. Today we have discussed our plans for the future. We operate in many European countries and use machinery of many manufacturers from different countries, so we are able to compare it. MAZ machinery and equipment are on a par with those of the best European brands, but the Belarusian enterprise offers much better terms and prices. We are mulling over using MAZ machinery at our construction sites across Europe,” Vibor Mulic noted.

Such business initiatives can be called an offer that is hard to resist! The Belarusian mechanical engineering company MAZ believes that joining efforts with the big international real estate developer will help it successfully enter new markets.

Another exciting piece of news from MAZ – its cooperation with Dana Holdings is not limited to supplies of construction machinery!

“The joint corporate program MAZ and the developer are implementing to build homes for personnel of our enterprise produces tangible results. As of today many MAZ families have been able to improve their housing conditions and move into new apartments in comfortable complexes in Minsk,” Boris Mushchinsky said.

The developer was in for a surprise. The developer's representative really liked one of the exhibits MAZ showcased in the open air – a mobile office made by MAZ-Kupava.

“The new MAZ product will be very beneficial for us. Apartments in our complexes are offered for sale in many regions of Belarus. Our sales managers already work in 19 cities across the country. Such a mobile office could help us considerably expand the geography of representation and successfully develop our projects. I think we will buy such an office soon,” Vibor Mulic said.

MAZ representatives promised they will prepare a new office on wheels soon to match requirements of the strategic partner.

With the exhibition over, the partners shook hands and went separate ways to implement new plans. As he was leaving BelExpo, Vibor Mulic stressed that only concrete accomplishments determine the success of economic development.

“Belarus develops its economy despite all the hardships. We see what economic and social problems emerge in the countries, which have declared a lockdown due to the pandemic. In the same conditions the Belarusian government decided to reinforce economy and develop manufacturing. Our company is integrated into the Belarusian economy. We use only Belarusian construction materials and only Belarusian subcontractors. We buy Belarusian machines and vehicles. We intend to use the capabilities that actively work in Belarus in our foreign projects. I am convinced that active construction of housing and commercial premises means steady employment and dozens of thousands of new jobs in various parts of the country,” Vibor Mulic said.
